Why drones change the equation

The most dangerous part of cleaning a building
is getting a person up to it.

So we don't. An industrial drone does the climbing while the crew stays on the ground. It sets up faster, costs less to run, and takes the single biggest risk off the table.

NOBODY AT HEIGHT

Falls from height are the leading cause of death in construction

Every swing stage, lift and ladder is a version of that risk, and the reason height work carries such steep insurance and liability. The drone does the climbing, so no one on the job is ever exposed to it.

MINUTES, NOT DAYS

A swing stage takes a day to rig. A drone takes minutes.

Suspended scaffolds have to be engineered, certified, rigged and hung before a single window gets touched. Our crew unpacks and is cleaning within minutes of arriving.

300 SQ FT / MIN

Up to 5,000 square feet of façade in a single visit

The Sherpa drone moves across a building at roughly 300 square feet a minute, far faster than a crew repositioning a platform, and the pure water rinse dries with no streaks and no residue.

TWO, NOT SIX

Two people and a van, not a six-person crew

Conventional exterior cleaning at height runs a bigger crew plus lift rental, permits and height insurance. We deliver the same result with two people and a drone, and the difference shows up in your quote.

The old way vs the SkyRise way

Drag to see what changes when nobody has to climb

For decades, cleaning up high meant hanging a worker off the side of the building on a swing stage. It is slow, it is expensive, and it is where the real danger lives. We send the drone and keep the crew on the ground. Drag the handle to see the difference.

The equipment

A small fleet, engineered for the side of a building

Industrial cleaning and imaging hardware that retires the ladder, the lift, the scaffold and the rope, all run by a lean two-person crew.

Sherpa industrial cleaning drone

Built by Lucid Bots, the Sherpa is the most widely deployed commercial cleaning drone in North America. It is a heavy-lift machine that soft washes or pressure cleans from the air, fed by a long-range hose and flown by a two-person ground team. No swing stage required.

  • Up to ~4,500 psi
  • Authorized to 40 m (~131 ft)
  • ~300+ sq ft/min
  • 1 pilot + 1 ground crew
  • Streak-free finish

    RO/DI pure-water rinse

Reverse-osmosis and deionized water dries spot free, so glass and panels finish crystal clear with no chemical residue and no hand detailing.

  • Keeps it airborne

    Ground pump & long-range hose

A trailer-mounted pump and filtration unit feeds the Sherpa through a long-range hose, so the drone stays in the air and keeps cleaning without stopping to refill.

  • Steady at height

    Stabilized flight & ground control

A trained pilot flies with GPS-assisted stability and a ground spotter, holding the drone steady against the facade even in real Ottawa wind.

How it works

Four steps, from the ground up

Assess, quote, clean, done. The drone handles every bit of the climbing while your building stays open for business.

  1. 01

    Assess

Send a few photos or your address. We size up the access, the surfaces and the height, then confirm a drone is the smarter call.

  2. 02

    Quote

You get a clear, itemized quote with no obligation, and none of the scaffolding or lift-staging costs the old way piles on.

  3. 03

    Clean

A two-person crew shows up and stays on the ground. The drone does every bit of the climbing, soft washing or pressure cleaning as it goes.

  4. 04

    Done

You get a spotless exterior, plus before and after photos for your records if you want them. A maintenance plan keeps it looking that way.

The business case

Faster. Safer. More effective.

Drone cleaning isn't a novelty. It beats the swing stage on the three things a property owner actually cares about.

Faster

No scaffold to build, no lift to stage. The crew is cleaning within minutes of arriving and covers about 300 square feet a minute, so a job that used to take days can take hours.

Safer

Falls from height are the leading cause of death in construction. Keep the crew on the ground and that risk, plus the height insurance and liability that ride on it, drops to zero.

More effective

A pure water rinse dries with no spots and no residue, and the drone reaches the spans and heights a platform never could. Nothing gets skipped because it was too hard to get to.

Do the math. The old way means engineering and certifying a suspended scaffold, pulling permits, carrying height insurance and paying a four to six person crew, all before the first window. Our way is two people and a drone. Lower overhead, lower risk, and a number that usually lands under the traditional quote.

Drone-first vs traditional access

The same job, without the scaffolding

Here is how a drone visit stacks up against a swing stage, lift or scaffold on the things that actually hit your schedule, your budget and your liability.

Comparison of SkyRise drone-first service versus traditional access methods
Consideration SkyRise drone-first Swing stage · lift · scaffold
Worker-at-height risk Crew stays on the ground Workers dangling on swing stages and lifts
Setup time Minutes. Unpack and fly. Hours to days of rigging and staging
Tenant disruption Low. Fast, quiet passes. High. Rigging, noise and closures.
Cost drivers A lean two-person crew, barely any equipment Crews, equipment rental, permits and insurance
Speed & coverage Around 300+ sq ft a minute, from the air Slow, and limited by repositioning
Awkward heights & spans Reached safely from the air Risky, slow, or just out of reach

Proof, honestly

New company. Proven technology.

SkyRise is new in Ottawa, and we'd rather say so than fake a wall of five-star reviews. The technology behind us is anything but new. The Sherpa we fly is the most widely deployed commercial cleaning drone in North America, with hundreds of operators already in the field. What's new is us bringing it here. Questions, answered

Frequently asked

Straight answers on safety, certification, surfaces, weather and pricing. Anything we don't cover here, just ask.

Is drone cleaning safer than a swing stage or scaffolding?

Far safer. Swing stages, boom lifts and rope access all put a worker high up in the air, and that is the single biggest risk and liability in exterior cleaning. With SkyRise the drone does the climbing while our two-person crew stays on the ground, so the fall risk simply goes away.

Is it safe for my building?

Yes. A trained pilot flies the drone with a ground spotter, using soft wash or controlled pressure matched to each surface. Nothing gets bolted to your roof, no scaffolding leans on your walls, and no platform swings past your windows.

Are you licensed and insured?

SkyRise operates under Canadian drone (RPAS) regulations and carries the coverage commercial exterior work calls for. We confirm exact certification numbers, insurance limits and WSIB details in writing before any job. Just ask and we will send the current paperwork.

Which buildings and surfaces can you clean?

Glass, brick, metal, composite, EIFS, stucco, vinyl and fibre-cement siding, roofs and solar panels. Our sweet spot is low-rise, open-site properties: warehouses, distribution centres, dealerships, retail plazas, business parks, self-storage and low-rise condos, plus homes. If your property is a better fit for another method, we will tell you straight.

How high can you go?

We hold Transport Canada authorization to fly cleaning operations at heights under 40 metres, which is about 131 feet. That covers pretty much every warehouse, dealership, plaza, business park and low-rise building in the region. We do not take on downtown tower work right now, and if a property sits outside our envelope we will say so up front.

What about weather and wind?

Flying is weather dependent. We plan around wind, rain and temperature limits so the result comes out safe and clean, and we will happily reschedule before we will fly in conditions that compromise either one.

How is a job priced?

Every job is priced on its own, based on surface area, access and height. With no scaffolding to build and no lift to rent, drone cleaning is usually faster and easier on the budget. Send a few photos or your address and you will get a clear, itemized quote with no obligation. Recurring maintenance comes at a preferred rate.

How fast is it compared to the old way?

Much faster. There is nothing to erect and nothing to rig, so the crew unpacks and flies, covering roughly 300 square feet a minute. Most jobs wrap in a fraction of the time a rope or lift job would take, and with far less disruption for the people inside.
